The 222 is SO easy to please when it comes to cast, or with regard to handloading in general. Speaking of "small game" using the 222, I'd be happy to share some background, experience and information regarding the same using cast bullets. If a body has a preference for the 222 Remington, and doesn't care about being "out of style" - GO FOR IT!Īin't no flies on that rifle OR that cartridge! If a body has a preference for the SAKO, and can get one - GO FOR IT! The SAKO is a 223, but I just like the 222 more. As amazing as the SAKO is, I just like the CZ more. I own a 223, as everyone should, but it's for "just in case" and rarely used.ĪLSO a personal preference of mine is the CZ 527 over the excellent SAKO. I've stopped listening to the rationale of others regarding my aberrant ways. I still like the 222 more, especially for something specifically NOT a battle rifle. He'd sneak out and have it re-chambered on me. Four-plus decades later, I showed him a 222 rifle I bought (CZ 527) and the firs thing he said was "OH, it's a 222! Well, you can always ream it out." I think he was messing with me, but I'd never leave it in his custody - alone. It WAS a 222, long time ago, but dad had it reamed to 223, which he flatly told me was "better." Being a dumb kid, I doubted what he said, as I'd seen feats performed by the 222 with my own little eyeballs, and had heard of even more such feats as well as more profound feats by others. I made an exception for the Finns' gun, as it was just suck a wonderful gun. A marvelous little rifle, even as I ate, slept and breathed MAUSER myself.
She let me use it sometimes and I felt very privileged when I did. Not meant to belittle your choice at all, in fact, she had great taste in rifles and was a hell of a shot.
